River Jordan "Petey" peterson

Miss Petey Owner & Director
River Jordan “Petey” Peterson's roots were laid here in Northwest Arkansas. She is so excited to be back in her hometown making her vision of a different kind of dance studio come to life. Petey has been dancing since age 5. Growing up in Fayetteville, Petey performed and competed at many venues and competitions, winning numerous dance scholarships along the way. She also danced on her junior high and high school dance teams, even serving as captain. After high school, Petey moved to Dallas to begin her dance career and trained under Kitty Carter, DeeDee Munson, and Leslie Snelson-Figueroa. Petey taught at PowerHouse of Dance in Dallas, built the award winning Industry Crew and then taught at Dance Industry for several years. As the Hip Hop Director at DI, Petey trained many nationally acclaimed hip hop groups, as well as individual performers. Her professional dance career led her to dance and choreograph for many well-known companies, such as Disney, Nickelodeon, and Barney (the kids' show). Her choreography was even seen at the Superbowl XLV, in the half-time show with the Black Eyed Peas. She is known for her choreography in multiple genres, including hip hop, jazz and contemporary. Petey moved back home to Fayetteville in 2015 and is realizing her dream of owning her own studio that is focused on training everyone who loves to dance, from beginners who are learning good technique, to advanced dancers with professional aspirations. She is beyond happy to be spreading her love of movement to a whole new, growing group of students. Petey also hopes the Movement will be a place where dancers of all ages, levels and goals can feel comfortable coming to take classes appropriate for them.
